Why's it not worked yet? Getting rid of your pain.
I know you've worked hard on everything:
Exercise
Strength
Journal
Meditate
Stretch
Yoga
Pilates
...... to name only a few
So why is the f***ing pain still there!!?
I bet you’ve only been focusing on body stuff so far, with very few brain bits.
Your brain is the controller of everything.
Everything that is anything has to go through the brain. And each time anything passes through, it’s evaluated, scrutinised, referenced, catalogued, and rated. Do I (as in the brain) see this as a message of danger OR a message of safety?
And then it becomes like a scale, like one of those you’d see when a charity is fundraising, or like a bucket. The more danger messages that come in, the higher the red counter grows and the bucket gets to capacity. But the closer to the top of the counter or the rim of the bucket the contents go, the more sensitive the brain becomes to danger. Then it becomes more alert, scanning for threats, and the quicker the bucket fills.
It becomes catch-22.
If the counter or bucket reaches capacity and overflows, then what comes out is pain, discomfort, or that underlying unease and lack of trust in your body that’s been lingering for the past X years.
So what to do?
First, increase the messages of safety. Increase moments to authentically care for your inner self:
notice your breath
watch the clouds pass by
or just lean into any positive sensations that feel good to you
- putting your phone in the other room while you drink a warm drink from your favourite handmade mug.
Second, become aware of those negative thoughts, self-doubt, anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism. These are all echoes of the same. Messages of danger, of signs your brain is working hard to keep you safe.
Third, don’t buy in.
You are enough.
You’re not broken or damaged.
To this day, your brain and body have done everything they've been designed to do. They've kept you safe and are keeping you alive. Recognise this, acknowledge this and thank yourself for being so awesome.
Fourth, now what?
What do you want to do?
Keep on the same path that got you here, and keep on doing the same.
OR change because life doesn’t have to be so hard.
Pain doesn’t have to feel so painful, and it fills us with doubt.
And you get to truly, honestly and authentically make that decision.

We get to rewrite the narrative, open up opportunities to nurture dreams ready to flourish, and live our lives first!
